This isn't for any genre or demographic, I was just in the middle of 'custody issues' (hence the adult contemporary) and thinking of the little things in life you don't notice till they're gone: like changing a half-asleep kid out of their wet clothes at 3 am and giving them clean sheets! Maybe someone out there has been there? Maybe not? Either way it's still the same song.

[Verse 1] Promise from a birds eye view. Swoop down and untie my shoe. Bare feet will grow into a pair of wings. Those promises always kept for me, but not one single apology:
I have none to owe this suffering. [CHORUS] How could I dream and hope for pain? When youre still standing like a promise I couldnt keep. How could I only think of me? Just a good actress? How can you live vicariously?
[Verse 2] Promise broken, fixed by you.
One thing I can say: I trust you. Thats not how you will remember me. Promise just one thing for me: Don't say its the same without me. For better, or for worse just say it changed, it changed you.

Lyrics:
It's alright if I'm not a true genius. It's alright if I forsake my past.
I ain't afraid of you saying my music's too something and not enough something else. How many times did I start the song over before I said "f**k it" to self-doubt? I always thought I'd write something less cross-over, but this is just what came out. In the memoirs confession collapses (onto a page). No longer located in this world. Maybe she understands why she'd rather be filled with light, why the mind should be banished from the scene. Like weather captured inside a stain glass temple.
Like gently breathing words onto a mirror. It's alright if you don't want to love me (had a bad day). Who I once was is more like your type. I ain't afraid of you running away, kinda sorta figured you might. Maybe she understands why she'd rather be filled with light, why the mind must be banished from the scene.
Enough of me.
Move on to the next dream.
