The Songwriters of the Northwest Guild meets on the first Thursday of every month
at Saint John Vianney Parish in Kirkland. Check out the events calendar
for the date of our next meeting. We will always try to post changes in meeting dates
on the web site.
Need directions to the workshop?
We'll give you door-to-door driving directions to the meeting.
Here's what we do at the monthly workshops:
- Short Educational Presentation - One of the members will typically give a
short presentation on topics including copyrighting, songwriter tools,
producing professional quality demos, pitching your songs to publishers,
etc.
- Song writing critiques - Members who have brought a CD or cassette of one of their songs,
will have their song played for the group. Members wishing to have their song critiqued should
also bring 10-20 copies of their lyrics for other members to review while the song is played.
Members will write their ideas on these sheets and turn them back into your when your critique
is completed. Members will provide
constructive feedback and ideas. Works-in-progress, boombox demos, and lyrics or poetry
looking for music are all appropriate. These are positive, constructive sessions intended to
help the writer improve their songwriting skills.
- Length of workshops is typically 1½ to 2 hours.
